Considering the increased reliance on technology to access information, young people are no longer seen as mere consumers of information, but as important assets in communicating biodiversity. Recognising young people’s potential to amplify the call for conservation, the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) initiated the Young ASEAN Storytellers (YAS), an activity under the ASEAN Youth Biodiversity Programme (AYBP), to identify 20 young leaders in the region as communicators of biodiversity to inspire the ASEAN public to care and take action to conserve our shared natural heritage.
These 20 YAS created powerful stories of conservation from 11 ASEAN Heritage Parks, the best protected areas in the region. Their stories in the form of photography, film, painting, weaving, audio tracks, podcasts, long-form narratives, poetry, and performance, is now exhibited on a virtual platform, so that anybody in ASEAN with an Internet connection can access the YAS Exhibition online.
